LIFESURE project action B, implementation actions, includes manufacture and laying of half-warm bituminous recycling asphalt at CEDEX test track. This task targets at sudying those structural variables that are highly complex to be assessed in in-service roads. The principal objective is characterisation of the pavement performance changes due to load application and environmental conditions.
Three different stretches of road had been constructed: conventional hot mix asphalt AC16S bin 35/50 S, half-warm mix recycling asphalt at total recycling rate (100% RAP), half-warm mix recycling asphalt 70% recycling rate (70% RAP).
Charateristic of test track sections:
- Length: 25 m, three sections of 7 m with different surface layer.
- Width: 3 m.
- Layer thickness: 5 cm.
.
Accelerated test and monitoring of CEDEX test track are expected last one year. Structural performance of the sections will be periodically evaluated throughout the test in terms of bearing capacity, surface cracking and rutting. Embedded sensors will be located for daily monitoring and the noise perceived in each section will be also tested.
